The Mystery of Dinner for One

Every New Year's,  millions of Germans plonk down in front of their televisions to watch a 1963 English comedy sketch called Dinner for One and starring the old music hall, northern actor Freddie Frinton. Even though Dinner for One is the most frequently repeated TV program ever, and in the Guinness Book of Records, it has never aired in the UK or USA. Der Spiegel probed the mystery and found that the BBC had never contemplated broadcasting this British gem in the UK. The BBC spokesperson had never even heard of it...
