Journeyman Distillery - Three Oaks, Michigan

As I'm suffering from cabin fever now that the snow is here, I thought it would be a good idea to plan a trip to a new whiskey distillery in a former Featherbone corset factory at Three Oaks, Michigan:

This is 76 miles from Chicago (approx. 1.5 hours drive time).

"In an effort to support local organic farmers our Distillery will be buying organic grain that is grown by family farmers in the great Midwest.  The concept is to support the idea of eating with a sense of place.  Whether it’s local spirits produced by Journeyman, hand crafted cheeses, or local organic Michigan fruits, Journeyman believes organic demonstrates a respect for the land and its people.  Please support your local farmers markets and locally produced products."

Definition of a Journeyman: one who has fully served an apprenticeship in a trade or craft and is a qualified worker in another's employ.

Whilst in Three Oaks, one can also visit the charming Vickers Theater, left (built in the 1890s): http://www.vickerstheatre.com/

Reopening in March (after a winter break).

....and the Drier's Meat Market, recognized as a National Historic site. It opened in 1875 which means it has been in continuous use as a butcher's shop since shortly after the Civil War.  They serve smoked meats, cured in their own 100 year-old smoke house! I can recommend their homemade liverwurst. Please note:check website for winter closing dates. https://www.driers.com/
