Luxury liner runs aground on Friday the 13th

If you think you're having a bad day, spare a thought for this guy: Captain Francesco Schettino of the Italian luxury cruise ship Costa Concordia, that ran aground off the Tuscan coast last night....not to mention all the terrified passengers on board. Three people reported dead so far and dozens still missing.

Some news outlets are reporting that Schettino has been charged on suspicion of multiple manslaughter, causing a shipwreck, and abandoning ship. Schettino said the ship struck rocks "which were not indicated on maps". He denied allegations that he was sailing too close to the coast although some passengers said he did so to allow them to take better photos. "We were 300 metres from the rocks and that outcrop should not have been there," he said....but unfortunately the outcrop WAS there!!  I'm wondering: can they charge him if the rocky outcrop wasn't indicated on the maps?
