Today's BBC website has a piece on movie theatres in its travel section, including this Bollywood movie palace which is tucked away in Rajasthan:

They could have included the amazing Music Box Theater at 3733 N. Southport Avenue in Chicago. It opened in 1929 and was one of the great movie palaces of that era.
The dark blue, cove-lit ceiling with twinkling stars and moving clouds gives the feeling of a night sky above you. You feel as though you are watching a film in an open-air palazzo....serenaded by the organist and transported back to 1920s splendor. Modern movie theaters feel soulless by comparison.
